FAQs & Troubleshooting

A student has signed up to vInspired.com and cannot access the school page or opportunities.

While logged in to their vInspired account, the student can go to the unique school URL and click ‘Join this school’. This will connect them with your school site and enable them to access opportunities at your school.

A student signed up to the school site correctly but cannot access the school page.

Try logging out and logging in again or resetting the account password. If the issue persists, please contact us with the account name and email address.

How long will it take for opportunities I post to show up for students?

Allow for a delay of up to 24 hours for our databases to refresh and your opportunities to post to the school page ready for students to apply for. Your opportunities may show up for students sooner than this but allowing a bit extra time will always help.

Can my students log work experience hours on their vInspired accounts to count toward vInspired Awards?

Work experience placements do not count. Work placements are to help introduce the world of work to young people and the main aim is generally not to benefit the community. In addition, all volunteering, social action, or community activity should be unpaid.

Volunteering is described as an unpaid activity where someone gives their time to help an organisation or an individual who they are not related to. It is freely undertaken and not for financial gain. The benefit is to the community (an organisation or individual or group of people) rather than specifically the development of the young person.

Work experience generally is someone who spends a limited time with an employer to learn directly about work and the working environment, although some tasks may be performed it is more an opportunity to watch and learn, and often aimed at students of compulsory school age. The benefit is specifically the personal development of the young person.

Can my school or college use vInspired to promote work experience placements to students?

No. Following on from the guidance above regarding young people recording work experience hours to count toward their vInspired Awards, schools and colleges should not use the vInspired platform to promote specific work experience placements to students. This is outlined in our Service Level Agreement (Schedule 2) which can be viewed here.

One of my students is having trouble applying for a vInspired Award but they have enough hours recorded.

Make sure the student has recorded evidence in the form of a statement of reflection against at least one of their volunteering opportunities and that they have answered all of the Award questions. Once they have done this they can select the school to validate their award. Their application with show up on your Admin page.

A student has added the incorrect amount of hours to an opportunity. Can I delete or change this?

The student is able to delete and amend hours on an opportunity by viewing the hours and evidence logged on that opportunity. Instructions on how they can delete their hours can be seen here.

You can also delete hours on behalf of the student if need be. Log in to your admin account. Go to the student profile you need to amend hours for. Find the associated opportunity and click ‘Hours and evidence’ on the opportunity. A pop up will show all the hours and evidence they have logged. Delete hours as required. If needs be, some hours may need to be re-added so that their profile reflects the correct number of hours.

For example, a student may have added 100 hours but only meant to add 10. You will delete the 100 hours but 10 hours will then need to be added in so that their profile reflects the correct number of hours.
